And in pet news....

The cat is still with us, and doing fairly well.  She's blind but she climbs the stairs to meow at us and eats and drinks like a champ.  Her sense of smell is intact so she finds what she needs to find and seems happy in her little world.  We may bathe her tomorrow but we'll see.

Our black pug presented with a swollen right eyelid the other day.  Alarmingly swollen.  We held warm compresses on it and it was improved by the next day.  Today it's back to normal.  She's fine otherwise although her vision is failing a bit too.  So is her sense of smell, but her ability to generate smells improves daily.

The bird is fine except for some weird, misshapen feathers.  Of course.
