April come she will

And now it’s April.  Trees and bulbs are pushing out the few blooms that were not devastated by the hard freeze a few weeks ago.  We covered what we could and most of what we covered survived.  What we didn’t or couldn’t cover turned to mush.  Not the most beautiful Spring on record, but that’s how it goes.

Grandkids have a slew of end-of-year stuff on the horizon.  Concerts, plays, promotions, and a graduation will stack up over the next few weeks.  I still can’t wrap my head around how quickly we went from holding babies to hugging graduates.  Next school year, our youngest will be in middle school but the rest will be high school or beyond.  Man!

Dreary today but we hope to get some rain this week. I mowed and fertilized the back yard — R the front — so things are greening up.  Hummingbird feeder is out and ready to paparazzi the heck out of those little buggers so I’ll know the instant they arrive.  Should be in a few weeks but with the warmer days I’m thinking it could be earlier.

Little neighbor kids brought flowers to our door last night.  Such a sweet, innocent gesture.  Was talking on my walk this morning with another neighbor and she said that last night her brother commented on our neighborhood and that fact that the houses are all different and unique.  And that people walk around, visit, share, and get to know one another.  Sometimes I take it for granted but my neighborhood is truly a gem.  I definitely get more back than I give up in conveniences, updates, etc.  I need to remember that when paying to move electrical leads.

That’s it.  I need to get busy and fill feeders before the rain starts.
