Day late, dollar short

We finally shook off a bit of the winter blahs today and took a good long walk. It was brisk outside but the sun was shining and there was no wind. The fresh air did wonders for our lungs, clearing out the stagnant air that's been in there since mid-December. I feel like I've got real oxygen molecules circulating through my system rather than the mostly deflated, droopy balloons that had been bouncing around.

We started on our walk and I asked R if he had any money or credit cards on him. He said no. I didn't either. That pretty much nixed the possibility of a quick stop for a coffee or tea some place. We kept walking though and went to a nearby shopping center, about a mile away. We decided to walk through an antique shop there and if we found anything fabulous, we'd walk back home and get cash. When we got there, we found the antique shop we were heading to was closed, empty, and the space was for lease. We had been in there just about a month ago so that was a shock. So we walked through another nearby shopping center, hoping to check out a place that we'd seen on the marquee. We couldn't find it either, and guessed it had also moved out. We headed back home and on the way we went through an open house for a place we'd been watching in the real estate ads. It is in a pricier neighborhood next to ours, but it was just a two bedroom one bath house. With no basement. And a tiny kitchen. And the bathroom needed a complete remodel. Man did it make our house look good.

We came home and took it easy since we walked a couple of miles and that's a couple of miles more than we've been able to do in a while. We also walked it at a good pace, as if we hadn't been laid low for the past couple of weeks. We didn't spend any money (couldn't -- we didn't have any and every place we wanted to see was closed) so it was a good trip. But now we're both taking it easy, recovering on the sofa and in the comfy chair. And I've got my electric lap blanket on, trying to warm up again.

Fresh air is good.
